Lime Tree honoured for its care for veterans

Residents and staff celebrating

The team and residents at our Lime Tree Court Residential Care Home in Wolverhampton are celebrating after the home proudly achieved Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) status.

This prestigious accreditation recognises the home’s unwavering commitment to honouring the unique experiences of veterans living in the home and the wider community, supporting their practical, emotional and social needs, while ensuring their service is recognised, respected and valued.

The home currently cares for four veteran residents, alongside 13 spouses and partners of veterans, creating a meaningful Armed Forces community within the home.

A key strength of Lime Tree Court’s approach is its focus on community connection and engagement. The home has developed a close relationship with a local Armed Forces Veterans’ Breakfast Club in Bilston, enabling residents to regularly meet with other veterans, share experiences and build camaraderie in a relaxed setting.

It has also partnered with a local RAF Cadet group, bringing younger generations into the home to connect with residents. These visits provide valuable opportunities for storytelling, learning and mutual understanding, while helping veterans feel valued and recognised.

Throughout the year, Lime Tree Court actively celebrates military events such as VE Day, Remembrance Day, Armed Forces Day and Falklands Memorial Day, with inclusive activities that encourage reflection and shared pride.

The home also ensures veteran status is identified when someone moves into Lime Tree Court and reflected in personalised care planning, enabling staff to provide tailored, compassionate support based on each individual’s service history.

Home Manager Tyler Durnall proudly reflected on the home receiving this achievement, saying, "we are incredibly proud to achieve the VFF accreditation. It is important to us that our veterans feel valued, understood and supported. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and our commitment to continually enriching the lives of our residents with the care we provide."
