Shaftesbury House Residential Care Home in Ipswich
Located next door to St John’s Church, our care home is tucked away in a residential area. Our dedicated team are proud to provide person-centred residential care, dementia care and respite care in Ipswich.
Our residents are proud of the lively community they live in. Many were born and raised in Ipswich and Suffolk, so we help them stay connected to the local area.
Active members of the community
Throughout the year, we invite friends, families and even neighbours to our Ipswich care home to join us for a host of celebrations.
From summer fetes to Christmas fayres, scrumptious afternoon teas to and BBQ's - we are always ready to open our doors to the local community.
Our community events are the perfect way to support our residents to meet new friends. Those receiving residential care often comment on how their social life has never been so busy. And that’s the way we like it!
The team delivers an engaging activities plan, shaped by the passions and favoured pastimes of our wonderful residents. Some days you might see us enjoying a spot of animal therapy, while the next we could be baking. Some of our residents love to spend time singing, which can be wonderful for bringing back happy memories, particularly for those living with dementia.
Our residents love to get out and about in our local community so we often arrange trips to the local pubs and for relaxing walks in the park.
We also welcomed two cats earlier this year, Pixie and Chase. We were so happy to be able to rehome these furry friends, and our residents just adore them - particularly those that had cats before moving into Shaftesbury House.
Our experienced care team
Our dedicated team who provide round the clock care to our residents, are led by Home Manager Michelle Booth.
Michelle has been with Shaftesbury House for more than 20 years, starting as a care assistant and now Home Manager.
Michelle's time at the home has given her a wealth of experience, building lasting relationships with her residents, their loved ones and her team - many who have also been at the home for more than 15 years.
When asked what makes Shaftesbury House in Ipswich special, Michelle said: "The team are truly wonderful and all go above and beyond to enrich the lives of our residents. This includes all the fundraising we do to take our residents on special trips."
