Shaftesbury Court is an attractive care home located in a residential area of Erith, Kent.

A 15-minute drive from Erith Riverside Shopping Centre, our care home is in easy reach to a train and tube station, providing direct access to London and all its attractions, including the National History Museum.

Our dedicated team provides a range of care and support for our residents, including residential and respite care.

Our care home has been designed with the usual comforts you’d expect such as welcoming lounges, a light and airy dining room, a landscaped garden and cosy en-suite bedrooms, which provide a warm place for our residents to rest and relax.

However it’s the small personal touches and our friendly team, who care for our residents as if they were members of their own family, which make Shaftesbury Court a true home from home.

We welcome visits from family and friends and have an open door policy, so whether loved ones like to pop in for a coffee or take part in an activity, we encourage them to become part of the community within our home.

We hold regular meetings for residents and relatives, enabling our residents and their loved ones to be directly involved in everyday life at Shaftesbury Court.

Accommodation

Our spacious bedrooms have en-suite wet rooms, kitchenettes and telephone and television points. We also have five double rooms available for couples (subject to availability).

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, although we do encourage our residents to bring personal ornaments, pictures and small items of furniture to make their rooms their own.

We have several lounge areas for our residents to use as they wish, whether taking part in activities, catching up with friends and family or simply reading a good book.

The dining rooms provide a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in the company of others.

Our beautiful garden is landscaped with raised flower beds for our residents who like to do a spot of light gardening. It also features a harbour style seating area for people to admire the wonderful surroundings and is a lovely focal point for summer parties.

Shaftesbury Court’s features include:

  • Spacious en-suite bedrooms, with kitchenettes, telephone and television points
  • Double rooms available for couples (subject to availability)
  • Several lounge areas
  • Dining rooms where our residents enjoy home-cooked meals
  • Large landscaped garden with raised flower beds and seating areas
  • A hairdressing salon
  • wi-fi logo  Wi-Fi enabled throughout the home.

Activities

We believe it is important that our residents spend their time as they choose, so have a dedicated activities person to support them to take part in interesting activities, rekindle old past times and try new things.

We have a hairdressing salon and our residents also enjoy being pampered with manicures and hand massages.

Regular activities on offer include everything from arts and crafts, bingo, quizzes, table-top games and support for charitable fundraisers.

Our residents also enjoy regular visits from children at the local college and church groups.

Home-cooked meals

Our catering team prides themselves on preparing nutritious, seasonal home-cooked meals, along with mouth-watering home-baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Residents help us to shape the menus and our catering team spends time with them to get feedback on the dishes and their likes and dislikes. They are also able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Breakfast includes a wide variety of choice from cereals and toast to a traditional cooked breakfast.

Lunch and dinnertimes see a selection of sandwiches, home-made soups, salads, jacket potatoes and hot meals such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and favourites including fish and chips, cottage pie and a hearty casserole.

There is also an array of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day for residents and their loved ones if they get a bit peckish.

Care and Support

We pride ourselves on treating people as individuals, so all our residents have care plans tailored to their individual medical, social and emotional needs. We review care plans on a regular basis and involve family and friends in this process wherever possible.

The range of personal care services we can provide, in partnership with local professionals, include:

  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Optical care
  • Dental care
  • GP
  • Key worker

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
