Something that always takes visitors by surprise is the size of the bedrooms in our care home. The spacious, residential apartment-style bedrooms have their own lounge areas, complete with kitchenette facilities. They also have en-suite wet rooms, telephone and television points. With a living space that residents can call home, these rooms really enhance that feeling of independence for many of them.
Shaftesbury Court even has double bedroom apartments available for couples.
Safe admissions into our care homes include the option for new residents to self-isolate in their own home before joining us.

Residents have access to wonderful communal facilities, including the beautiful garden. The grounds are truly glorious, with harbour style seating areas where the residents enjoy summer barbecues. We even have raised flower beds for our green-fingered residents to continue a pastime they’ve always adored. These beds are the perfect height for residents with limited mobility or in wheelchairs.
No two days are the same here at Shaftesbury Court, with person-centred and engaging activities taking place every single day. We support residents with hobbies they have always loved, inspiring them to try new things and helping them to get out and about to places they enjoy visiting across Erith and Kent.
You can find us taking part in arts and crafts with local schoolchildren or our volunteers, enjoying a spot of animal therapy, or even indulging in a hand massage in the hairdressing salon. Some of the residents enjoy going to the Diamond Jubilee Club and a monthly film club in Slade Green.
At the heart of the home is a truly dedicated team, managed by home manager Blessing. We have many long-serving members of the team who have been with us for years and years. People often praise the home for its family feel and loved ones are reassured to see a familiar face. It’s more than just delivering high-quality residential care and respite care. We go above and beyond to make our residents and those closest to them to feel part of something special.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2021 weekly care fees for residential care start from £976 but may be in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options. *If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support your weekly fee could be higher.
