Overlooking a picturesque park, Hawthorn Green is an attractive care home in the heart of Stepney.

With views across Canary Wharf and Stepney Green, the care home is a stone’s throw from several shops and two tube stations, providing direct access to the centre of London.

Our dedicated team provides a range of care and support for our residents, including residential care, nursing care, dementia care, palliative care and respite care.

Our care home has been designed with the usual comforts you’d expect such as welcoming lounges, light and airy dining rooms and cosy bedrooms, which provide a warm place for our residents to rest and relax.

The care home also features attractive landscaped grounds and a garden room, which is a bright and airy space with French doors opening out onto a patio area.

However it’s the small personal touches and our friendly team, who care for our residents as if they were members of their own family, which make Hawthorn Green a true home from home.

We welcome visits from family and friends and have an open door policy, so whether loved ones like to pop in for a coffee or take part in an activity, we encourage them to become part of the community within our home.

We hold meetings for residents and relatives, enabling our residents and their loved ones to be directly involved in everyday life at Hawthorn Green.

Accommodation

Our spacious 90 bedrooms are all en-suite and have television points. Loved ones are also welcome to stay over in our guest bedroom (subject to availability).

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, although we do encourage our residents to bring personal ornaments, pictures and small items of furniture to make their rooms their own.

We have several lounges for our residents to use as they wish, whether taking part in activities, catching up with friends and family or simply reading a good book.

Our dining rooms provide a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in the company of others.

Overlooking Stepney Green, our garden room is a bright and airy space with French doors opening out onto a paved patio, making it the perfect place to relax in the sunshine.

The gardens are landscaped with raised flower beds for our residents who like to do a spot of light gardening and also include lovely seating areas to admire the tranquil surroundings.

Hawthorn Green’s features include:

  • Spacious en-suite bedrooms, with television points
  • Guest bedroom (subject to availability)
  • Several lounge areas
  • Dining rooms where our residents enjoy home-cooked meals
  • Garden room overlooking Stepney Green

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.

Activities

We believe it is important that our residents spend their time as they choose, so have a dedicated activities person to support them to take part in interesting activities, rekindle old past times and try new things.

We have a hairdressing salon and our residents also enjoy being pampered with manicures and hand massages.

Regular activities on offer include everything from baking, singing sessions, animal therapy, bingo, quizzes, arts and crafts and live music entertainment.

Our residents also enjoy leisurely strolls in the local park and sight-seeing trips in London, as well as visits from local school children.

Throughout the year, the care home hosts regular themed community events such as summer fetes and Christmas fairs.

Care and Support

We pride ourselves on treating people as individuals, so all our residents have care plans tailored to their individual medical, social and emotional needs. We review care plans on a regular basis and involve family and friends in this process wherever possible.

The range of personal care services we can provide, in partnership with local professionals, include:

  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Optical care
  • Dental care
  • GP
  • Key worker

Home-cooked meals

Our catering team prides themselves on preparing nutritious, seasonal home-cooked meals, along with mouth-watering home-baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Residents help us to shape the menus and our catering team spends time with them to get feedback on the dishes and their likes and dislikes. They are also able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Breakfast includes a wide variety of choice from cereals and toast to a traditional cooked breakfast.

Lunch and dinnertimes see a selection of sandwiches, homemade soups, salads, jacket potatoes and hot meals such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and favourites including fish and chips, cottage pie and a hearty casserole.

There is also an array of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day for residents and their loved ones if they get a bit peckish.
