However it’s the small personal touches and our friendly team, who care for our residents as if they were members of their own family, which make Castlecroft a true home from home.

We welcome visits from family and friends and have an open door policy, so whether loved ones like to pop in for a coffee or take part in an activity, we encourage them to become part of the community within our home.

We hold regular meetings for residents and relatives, enabling our residents and their loved ones to be directly involved in everyday life at Castlecroft.

Accommodation

Our spacious 64 bedrooms are all en-suite and have telephone and television points.

Bedrooms are tastefully decorated and furnished, although we do encourage our residents to bring personal ornaments, pictures and small items of furniture to make their rooms their own.

We have three beautiful lounge areas and smaller quiet rooms for our residents to use as they wish, whether taking part in activities, catching up with friends and family or simply reading a good book.

The care home has recently created a pub, complete with optics, pumps, a pool table and darts board, which is the perfect place for our residents to socialise.

Our dining rooms provide a welcoming atmosphere for our residents to enjoy delicious home-cooked meals in the company of others.

The gardens are landscaped with raised flower beds for our residents who like to do a spot of light gardening and are a lovely place to relax under the gazebo in the summer months.

Our team

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.

Activities

We believe it is important that our residents spend their time as they choose, so have a dedicated activities person to support them to take part in interesting activities, rekindle old past times and try new things.

We have a hairdressing salon and our residents also enjoy being pampered with manicures and hand massages.

Regular activities on offer include everything from gentle exercise, live music entertainment, karaoke, reminiscence sessions, themed community events, quizzes, bingo and regular visits from school children and church groups.

Residents also enjoy trips to Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens, Cannon Hill Park, as well as pub lunches and shopping trips.

Care and Support

We pride ourselves on treating people as individuals, so all our residents have care plans tailored to their individual medical, social and emotional needs. We review care plans on a regular basis and involve family and friends in this process wherever possible.

The range of personal care services we can provide, in partnership with local professionals, include:

  • Chiropody
  • Hairdressing
  • Optical care
  • Dental care
  • GP
  • Key worker

Home-cooked meals

Our catering team prides themselves on preparing nutritious, seasonal home-cooked meals, along with mouth-watering home-baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Residents help us to shape the menus and our catering team spends time with them to get feedback on the dishes and their likes and dislikes. They are also able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Breakfast includes a wide variety of choice from cereals and toast to a traditional cooked breakfast.

Lunch and dinnertimes see a selection of sandwiches, homemade soups, salads, jacket potatoes and hot meals such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and favourites including fish and chips, cottage pie and a hearty casserole.

There is also an array of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day for residents and their loved ones if they get a bit peckish.
