Lake View Residential Care Home in ShropshireBrookside Avenue, Brookside, Telford, Shropshire, TF3 1LB
Situated opposite Holmer Lake Primary School, the students often come to Lake View to take part in activities with our residents. We also love getting invited back to the school for special assemblies and festivals.
Our residents also really enjoy their weekly visits from toddlers at a nursery in Telford, who always arrive at our care home armed with an abundance of Lego, games and play dough.
Safe admissions into our care homes includes the option for new residents to self-isolate in their own home before joining us.

No doubt the home’s new purchase of an ice cream making machine will mean they visit even more frequently! Whether partial to strawberry sauce, hundreds and thousands or chocolate sprinkles, our residents are very fond of this latest addition to the new cinema room. Also in the room is a vintage popcorn machine.
Our amazing magic table
Talking of new technology, for our residents living with dementia we have an innovative piece of equipment called a Magic Table, which was developed in the Netherlands. Interactive light games such as pond fishing or ball games are projected onto a table or flat surface. Residents who may find it hard to interact or engage with one another because of their dementia are instinctively drawn to the table. The games are a wonderful way for them to interact with loved ones as well as fellow residents on the residential care floor.
Residents in our care home like to lead the way and we actively encourage and support them to do so. They have their own newsletter which they write and produce themselves. Filled with quizzes, interviews and information about what activities they have loved doing, it is a fantastic read.
Each month one of our residents leads a residents’ only meeting, where they talk very openly about every aspect of life in their home. The home manager Michelle is then given feedback from the meetings which we follow up to ensure our residents’ wishes are implemented.
As a home we are also very passionate about some of our resident-led activities - these include an art session which one of our ladies in residential care organises.
The team at Lake View is totally dedicated. We have a choir which is run by one of our care assistants who comes to the home on her days off to practice songs with the residents, with performances regularly given to family and friends.
One of our other kind-hearted members of staff recently raised over £1,000 for the home by running a half marathon, which our residents chose to spend on a trip to Chester Zoo. Joined by family and friends, the team will be taking the residents here this summer.
As well as having an amazing care team, we have two volunteers from Telford. They are very popular and enjoy running the weekly knit and natter group and bingo. Our volunteers also enjoy helping out in our newly revamped coffee shop. With a new barista coffee machine for people to help themselves, it is the perfect place for our residents and their visitors to spend time together.
Pre-bookable respite care at Lake View
Our short-term respite breaks are an opportunity for loved ones to meet new people, enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and all the comforts of home whilst receiving outstanding care and support. Lake View provides both pre-bookable residential and dementia respite care, allowing carers and relatives to also take a break of their own.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed. Our 2021 weekly care fees for residential care start from £852 and may increase to £1,045. Prices are dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
