Nestled in a quiet residential area of Chaddesden, our team at The Park, which is one of our three care homes in Derby, are devoted to providing person-centred care that truly enriches the lives of our elderly residents. Providing residential, nursing and palliative care, as well as care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, we also provide respite care options, which are perfect if you need a carer break.

If you join us needing residential care and your needs change, our team of qualified and experienced care and nursing staff are here to meet your increasing needs, giving you the peace of mind that The Park can be a true home for life if you wish.

Life at our Derby care home

When a resident joins us, we take time to get to know who they are as individuals and their passions, so we can support them to enjoy doing things which are truly meaningful to them. We support them to live as independently as they can, which is so important for their dignity and wellbeing.

Our beautiful, landscaped gardens have sensory planting with aromatic herbs, which is wonderful for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, a vegetable patch which many of our residents love to take care of and wheelchair friendly pathways. Many of our bedrooms, which are all en-suite, have private patio doors leading to the gardens. There is also a barbecue area which is perfect for summer events and spending time with family and friends.

Many of our residents enjoy baking activities, making everything from cakes and biscuits to creating dishes with the produce they have grown themselves.

The Park also has its own salon, with a hairdresser visiting us and other care homes in Derby for regular appointments. The salon is also the perfect place for our pamper sessions.

Elsewhere we have four cosy themed lounges and a library filled with modern and classic titles. Meanwhile, our reminiscence lounge includes nostalgic memorabilia and gramophone. This space is extremely comforting, especially for those living with dementia.

A care home at the heart of our Chaddesden community

We love to welcome talented live entertainers, who visit us and other nursing homes in Derby to perform. Music is such a therapeutic activity, especially for people living with dementia or memory loss, reigniting wonderful memories.

For our animal lovers, we have enjoyed welcoming four-legged friends to The Park, including equines from Derbyshire Shetland ponies. And for our residents with greater physical disabilities, or those with higher nursing care needs, we can organise special visits to their bedside. Animal therapy sessions are so enriching for our residents who have sensory impairments.

With our own minibus, we are able to help our residents to remain active in our community. We organise trips from their care home in Derby into Chaddesden and the wider Derbyshire area. Our residents particularly like to visit Matlock Bath, local garden centres and Manor Farm Park & Woodlands in East Leake.

Pre-bookable respite care at our Derby care home

As well as residential, dementia, nursing, palliative and end of life care, we provide short-stay and longer term planned respite breaks, as well as emergency respite in the event of something unexpected. These are perfect for carer breaks, for example if you are looking after an elderly relative and need to recharge your batteries, or indeed if you are in your more senior years and need support with convalescence, with the peace of mind that our care and nursing staff are there around-the-clock.

Pricing information

It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.

Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £842 and £907 for nursing care, but may be in the region of 20% more. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.

*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
