Dalby Court Residential Care Home in Middlesbrough

Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire, TS8 0XE
Dementia care
Palliative care
Residential care
Respite care

Situated next to St Mary’s Roman Catholic Cathedral in Middlesbrough, our care home is in the thriving centre of Coulby Newham.

At the heart of Dalby Court is an absolutely beautiful garden which is a real focal point. The building surrounds this central garden so it is completely secure. With trellises bursting with stunning wisteria and roses, our residents find this area the perfect spot to relax in the sunshine listening to the birds. There is also a water feature and extensive lawns surrounded by wheelchair-friendly pathways.

When the sun shines, our residents’ loved ones often like to join us as we sit in the gardens for fish and chip suppers, served in newspaper like the good old days. Also popular are our afternoon tea events, where our chef bakes cakes and scones served with jam and clotted cream.

The gardens are also perfect when we are visited by entertainers and musicians, who come to us and other care homes in Middlesbrough and the wider area of Cleveland and Teesside for special performances.

Special rooms – for relaxing and socialising

Dalby Court has its own Namaste room for ultimate relaxation. Residents can enjoy a foot spa or a hand massage while listening to their favourite music. There is also mood lighting, a bubble machine and other sensory equipment. This room is also perfect for the pamper days the team organises for our ladies, who enjoy a manicure and having their nails painted.

Another popular area where our residents like to socialise in is the ‘Coulby Newham’ bar in the centre of the home. Our gents and ladies are able to enjoy a pint, a glass of wine or whatever tipple takes their fancy while playing a game of darts or cards. The room is also used to celebrate private family events such as birthdays and anniversaries, for which we ensure there is a home-baked cake to mark the occasion.

One of our staff members who is part of a male voice choir in Middlesbrough has been inspired to start a care home choir for our residents living with dementia. Having seen the BBC’s inspiring and moving Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure and how singing can enrich the lives of people living with dementia, we are really excited about our new venture. We are a little rusty right now but watch this space!

For our residents who are more independent and receive residential care, the home is next to the main Parkway Shopping Centre in Coulby Newham.

The team at Dalby Court, some of whom have worked here for 10, 15 and even 20 years, make it a true home for our residents. There is a genuinely warm and happy atmosphere the moment you walk through the door, something which makes this home very special.

At Sanctuary Care our number one priority is to keep our residents, their relatives and our staff safe.

With the increasing number of reported cases of Coronavirus in the UK, we have taken the difficult decision to minimise all non-essential visits to our residential and nursing homes until further notice. These include routine visits from loved ones and friends, entertainers, hairdressers, volunteers, work experience students and school parties.

We have not taken this decision lightly and understand this will be upsetting for relatives who want to visit loved ones. We do feel this is the best way to keep our residents safe and is one of many proactive, preventative measures we are taking to stop this infection getting into our homes.

We do hope you understand why we are taking these precautions. Please don’t hesitate to call if you would like to speak to us directly if you have any questions or concerns.
