Lounge and bar
A cup of tea or Sunday morning tipple is always welcome at Ravenhurst where family is at the heart of what we do.
Our home is in the heart of the Stourport community, with a devoted team of long-serving staff, inspiring activities and mouth-watering home-cooked food. We even have our own allotment plot and hairdressing salon.
We pride ourselves on creating a homely, family feel. Our service offers both short stay and long term care, providing residential care, dementia care and short-term respite breaks.
Safe admissions into our care homes include the option for new residents to self-isolate in their own home before joining us.
Our virtual tours enable you to find out more about life in our care home and ask any questions you may have to a senior member of our team.
Our close partnership with Stourport-on-Severn’s district nurses and our local hospice in Kidderminster mean we are supported to provide a high standard of palliative care for our existing residents.
Coming soon, our heated outdoor visitors’ pod will be an extra space for our residents to spend time with their relatives.
Our team is what makes the home truly special. They make Ravenhurst feel like an extended family, with residents and their relatives at the heart of everything we do.
Run by manager Andrew and deputy manager Shirley, who between them have over 30 years’ experience in care. Many of the staff have been here for over 20 years, giving continuity of quality care.
This includes our head chef, Shirley Cook, who serves delicious homemade food and freshly baked cakes each day.
We support older people to have the very best quality of life, which means doing what they love.
One of our residents is a retired music teacher, so we helped her to become a volunteer at a school in Stourport-on-Severn. She even runs our choir, which performed at Kidderminster’s town hall last year! Another resident is a retired administrator. She helps out on reception at the weekends; giving her that independence and sense of purpose she so loves.
With two activities coordinators, we provide such a range of experiences to keep our residents physically active and enhance their mental wellbeing. There is a history group; we have our own allotment plot, a hairdressing salon and a day care centre.
During ‘normal times’, this is used for activities with our local Wyre Forest district community (see below). These include reminiscence and memory sessions, which are wonderful if you are an older person living with dementia, along with strength and balance sessions. These can be tailored to seniors who are more frail or infirm with more limited mobility.
Our residents also love to go on excursions, including boat trips along the River Severn, which runs through Bewdley across Worcestershire. The Severn Valley Railway is also a stone’s throw away.
We also use an iPad to support our residents to stay in touch with family and friends via video calls.
With a rating of Good in our recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report, Ravenhurst was awarded an Outstanding for Responsive.
Comments about the team included how we “worked to make sure everyone’s needs were met physically, socially and emotionally”. It also highlighted how every single member of the team is passionate about making a positive difference to our residents’ lives.
One resident said of the staff: “They are caring, I like them very much,” while another added: “I am happy. My son said I look happier and in better health than I have for years.”
As mentioned the team at Ravenhurst also support seniors who live independently in Stourport-on-Severn and across the Wyre Forest district, as part of the home’s Gateway services for older adults.
We offer a range of services, from occupational and recreational sessions and activities. We promote living well in later life, creating friendships, learning new skills and most importantly having fun.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.
Our 2021 weekly care fees for residential care start from £814 but may be in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options. *If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support your weekly fee could be higher.
