A royal jubilee
There will be fabulous finery, fancy petit fours and fizz when a Sanctuary Care home in Basingstoke celebrates Care Home Open Day next week.
On Saturday 21 April, from 10.30am to 12noon and 2pm to 4pm, people from the local community are invited to Basingfield Court Residential Care Home on Huish Lane, to enjoy a very special combined celebration.
The home will be transformed for a day of royal-themed fun, celebrating both Care Home Open Day and The Queen’s 92nd birthday. Along with live entertainment, a fun quiz and film showing, there will be a host of scrumptious refreshments to enjoy, including a royal high tea complete with cucumber sandwiches, fancy petit fours and fresh homemade scones.
Donning crowns and royal regalia, the home’s residents have been showcasing their artistic flair, creating a piece of artwork of The Queen to display at the welcoming home on the day.
Speaking of the fancy festivities, activities leader, Tracy Mercer said: “Our residents have worked so hard on their painting and can’t wait to proudly show our visitors on Care Home Open Day.
“We really do hope people from our local community will come and join in the fun and celebrate our Monarch’s special day. There will be fabulous entertainment, great company and food fit for any royal!”
Saturday 21 April marks the sixth annual Care Home Open Day, when homes nationwide open their doors and welcome people to share a special day with their teams and residents, forging lasting links with their local communities.
The theme for this year is linking communities, so if anyone would be interested in attending and making some new friends at Basingfield Court, please drop in anytime between 10.30am and 12noon and 2pm and 4pm.
Care Home Open Day comes as a double celebration for Basingfield Court, which has recently achieved a ‘Good’ rating with the Care Quality Commission, as well as Sanctuary Care, which is marking its 20 year anniversary of delivering care to its residents.
The address for those wishing to attend is Basingfield Court Residential Care Home, Huish Lane, Old Basing, Basingstoke RG24 7BN.
