“It can be the small moments that are special,” why Aimee loves enriching lives

A nurse for over 20 years, Aimee has been part of the team at our Wantage Residential and Nursing Home for over five years, swapping life on Canada’s East Coast for rural Oxfordshire.
Having worked at the home for seven years, as a nurse and now as Deputy Manager, it’s the close knit, family feel of the home which makes it truly special.
“I feel very proud to work here because I think we offer something very unique – it’s that homely feeling,” she explains. “Our residents are like our extended family.
“I always say how would you want to see your parent cared for, and that’s what we strive for here. You want to make sure that your residents feel this is their home and that they have the very best care possible.”
For Aimee, she loves to see her residents enjoying activities which truly enrich their lives.
“When you see them smiling and having such a great day – that’s what it’s all about,” she adds. “You want to make sure people are enjoying being here, are participating and being involved.”
And it’s not just about the all-singing, all dancing events.
“It can be the small moments you have with your residents that are special,” she adds.
Aimee loves to involve residents in how the home is run, with plans already in place to revamp the gardens ready for the spring, with the residents choosing plants they’d love to see, and of course nurturing their seeds to fruition!
