Happy Birthday Preston
Preston’s 100th birthday came just after we closed to non essential visits. We made sure it was still a very special day, with fun, fancy dress and family FaceTime.
Run by passionate and dedicated manager Lynda Schofield, who is described as “Bradwell Court through and through”, it’s easy to see why this care home is so well regarded in the Congleton community.
Having just received a Good rating in every single area inspected by health watchdog the Care Quality Commission, Lynda and her team received high praise in CQC’s report, which said: “Staff were observed to be passionate about what they did and were happy to go the extra mile. One staff member told us: ‘The registered manager always makes sure the residents come before anyone. The staff go above and beyond and have the same views and values’.” Another loved one described staff as “caring and attentive, treating people as individuals”.
Safe admissions into our care homes includes the option for new residents to self-isolate in their own home before joining us.
Our virtual tours enable you to find out more about life in our care home and ask any questions you may have to a senior member of our team.
Our care home choir, which we have aptly named ‘Can sing – can’t sing’, has been the most fantastic introduction to the home. It began just a few months ago but every single Tuesday at 11am, the entire home stops for practice – with every member of staff and every resident joining in! We are not going to give any choir in Congleton, or even Cheshire a run for their money – but the sheer joy everyone gets from singing together at the tops of their voices is simply magical!
The gardens at Bradwell Court are a real highlight of the home, which provides both residential care and dementia care. We have a brilliant partnership with Congleton in Bloom to thank for that. Every year members of the group come to the home and go through different horticultural designs, supporting us to cultivate our dream garden.
Bradwell Court recently won the Congleton in Bloom award for the care home’s contribution to the town achieving gold in national Britain in Bloom Awards. Some of the residents involved proudly attended the awards night at the local town hall, joining the team to collect their prestigious accolade.
This year members of the team from Congleton in Bloom are coming to support our staff to design a new greenhouse area with raised planters, so our residents can have their own miniature allotment plots.
Another highlight of the home is our residents’ bedrooms, which are extremely spacious and beautifully decorated, with garden views. The rooms have kitchenettes and seating areas, should your loved ones prefer a little more privacy when they visit. With walk-in wet room showers, they are perfect for our residents who prefer to be more independent.
Being embraced into the heart of such a close-knit community is also very important to help our residents to remain engaged with life outside their care home in Congleton. Representatives from our local churches regularly come into the home to carry out services and Songs of Praise. We are also very lucky to receive regular visits from toddlers from our local nursery, who light up our residents’ faces every time they walk through the door.
Outside the home, our residents enjoy trips along the canal in a very unique boat which is specially adapted for wheelchairs. The residents love to sit back and enjoy the breath-taking Cheshire countryside, waving to walkers along the route! On the way back we always stop for fish and chips or ice cream – the perfect end to the perfect day!
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.
Our 2021 weekly care fees for residential care start from £811, but may be in the region of 20% more*, dependent on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support your weekly fee could be higher.
