High Peak Residential and Nursing Home provides palliative variety of care for older people in the comfort of homely surroundings.
We work in a person-centred way to identify individual goals and ambitions, focusing on enablement and the promotion of personal dignity.
We have 34 spacious bedrooms, 32 have en-suite toilet facilities and all rooms have an emergency nurse call system.
We have our own in-house hairdressing salon and we also arrange visits from chiropodists, physiotherapists (via referral from GP or hospital) opticians and other professionals.
High Peak is located in a very peaceful rural setting. Our relaxing lounges have views of the gardens and we also have a large patio where people can sit and enjoy the outdoors.
The home is located in a tranquil spot yet within easy reach of the motorway network. Culcheth offers a wide range of shops and there is a pub within walking distance.
Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.
To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.
Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
We work in close partnership with GP’s and other health professionals and specialist services.
A varied activities programme is run by our activities co-ordinator who is assisted by our care staff. Activities residents can choose to be involved in include bingo, board games, baking, exercises, singing around the piano, arts and crafts, massages, manicures and pedicures. We even have our own Victorian-style sweet shop in-house.
We support people to be as independent as possible and encourage regular interaction with the local community, including contact with friends, family and local groups. We also encourage friends and family to be involved through regular visits and participation in special activities, events and open days.
We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives and believe that every individual irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences. This information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs.
All of our person-centred assessments are tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.
In relation to our palliative and end of life care, we have achieved the Gold Standard Framework, Beacon Status, which proves that the home is excellent for our residents with all aspects of end of life care.
Meals times are an important part of the day at High Peak. We therefore have a Protected Mealtimes which enables staff in the home to be fully focused on our residents at mealtimes without disruption of staff being taken away at this very important time of the day.
Our experienced catering staff prepare a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
