There will be live music, toe-tapping, hands clapping, fabulous finery and an abundance of mouth-watering food when Sanctuary Care homes across the South West embrace Silver Sunday.
Silver Sunday is a national annual event, set up by the Sir Simon Milton Foundation that celebrates older people, where individuals and organisations help to unite people in local communities by hosting special celebrations on Sunday 7 October.
Fabulous fifties tea dance in Plymstock
Between 2pm and 4pm, older people from the local community and their families are invited to Furzehatt Residential and Nursing Home in Furzehatt Road, Plymstock, where the team and residents will be hosting a 1950s vintage tea dance.
The home is throwing open the doors, with residents and the team welcoming the community to join them for a live performance from Plymouth Dance Academy, who will be performing to a number of hits from across the decade.
The team will also be looking picture perfect in polka dots and neckerchiefs galore.
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader Suzie Davis (pictured) said: “Silver Sunday is such a special day – it is all about our wonderful residents and older people in the local community and the contribution they make and have made over the years. In our opinion that should be celebrated in style, so please do join us for what promises to be a fabulous afternoon.”
