“The care is excellent” – why Julie keeps recommending Howard House
When Evelyn’s Alzheimer’s progressed to the point that daughter Julie was concerned for her safety, she started exploring care options – and our home in Kilmarnock “jumped out”.
Julie did so much research and Howard House Care Home “ticked all the boxes”. She loved the rural location, the large, enclosed gardens, with patio doors leading directly from Evelyn’s bedroom, the garden room and conservatory. Julie also loved that Evelyn’s friends could catch a bus directly to the home. Four years later, Julie is still “delighted” with the home.
“The care is excellent – they are so just so kind and there is always someone there. The staff do a wonderful job. Everything you ask for is done and nothing is too much trouble. And the laundry always has a nice fresh smell!”
For Julie it’s that person-centred engagement that means so much. “Hayley is mum’s key worker and she is so kind – she is a fantastic girl, just excellent,” she adds.
“Mum was a great baker so she enjoys it when they do baking and things like folding napkins together. And she loves it when they do afternoon tea with the fine china tea set in the lounge.
“Amanda the chef is so kind and caring – the food is great and mum loves her home baking.”
Evelyn recently celebrated her 91st birthday, with activities co-ordinator Tara giving up her day off to take her out to a restaurant, where she had a wonderful celebration with her family, with Tara taking her safely home afterwards.
Julie has recommended Howard House to a number of people, who are equally as impressed as she is.
