Edna graduates as a Nursing Associate!

We are proud to announce the graduation of another of our nursing associate apprentices.

Edna Ankrah has been doing valuable work experience, supported by the nurses at our Riverlee Residential and Nursing Home in Greenwich, while studying hard at the University of Greenwich.

She’s beaming with pride after becoming a fully-fledged Nursing Associate at Riverlee after completing her two-year programme.

“I was determined to do this – I knew from the word go this was for me and I’m very, very proud of myself,” she says.

“I believed in myself, and I had a lot of support from Sanctuary Care’s Learning and Development Team, Riverlee and the university.”

For Edna, a huge benefit was that the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship Programme is fully funded for her, and she could continue to earn an income working at Riverlee, alongside her studies.

The two-year Nursing Associate programme gives staff in our homes the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications which enhance their careers, while continuing to work in our homes, gaining valuable hands-on work experience shadowing our highly skilled nurses.

Edna joins our four other successful graduates to date - Zainab Mwebe Pennin from Ashgreen House Residential and Nursing Home in London and Tabby Bray, Charlie Moore and Jane Cabaya, from Greenslades Nursing Home in Exeter and Furzehatt Residential and Nursing Home in Plymouth.

And watch this space because we have two more apprentices in their second year of studies, and two members of staff about to embark on the programme!
