Prince Alfred Residential Care Home provides residential and physical disability care for older people.
We provide a homely atmosphere and strive to make the experience a comfortable, fulfilling and enriching one for everyone who lives with us.
Prince Alfred is purpose-built and has fifty bedrooms with washing facilities, television and an emergency call system in all bedrooms.
We have beautifully landscaped gardens where individuals can enjoy nature and relax in the sun and fresh air in the warmer months.
The home is situated in the heart of Wavertree with stunning views overlooking Mystery Park. The park can be seen from many of the bedrooms. The local area has many places of interest including the Smallest House in Merseyside and varied shops and cafés.
Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.
To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.
Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced PVG check, it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.
The activities offered are very much based on the individual person’s choice and interests. Activities that many residents living here enjoy include bingo, quizzes, skittles, chair aerobics, crafts and book club. Pampering sessions for the ladies and Men’s Club for reminiscing and companionship. We organise outings to see the Blackpool lights and barge tips in the Summer. The home has the use of a minibus which is used for trips out to visit local sites of interest.
We hold regular parties for special occasions and encourage regular involvement from friends, family and the local community who join us for activities and events such as Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas and Summer Barbecues.
We have our own in-house weekly hairdressing salon and residents also have regular visits from chiropodists, physiotherapists, opticians and other professionals.
We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives and believe that every individual irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences and know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs.
Our person-centred assessments are all tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.
Meals are an important part of the day at Prince Alfred. Our expert catering team prepare a varied menu of fresh home cooked food every day and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective. The catering team have a 5-star rating. Occasionally we have chippy suppers from the Local Fish and Chip shop.
