The devoted team at our care home in Hatfield provide everything from residential and dementia care to nursing, palliative care and respite care, giving you the peace of mind that we are able to meet your loved one’s increasing needs if they evolve over time.
With en-suite bedrooms featuring walk-in wet rooms, a cinema room and pub, hairdressing salon, plus delicious home-cooked cuisine and a dedicated activities team, we have so much to offer at Hatfield.
Hatfield Residential and Nursing home has a large, enclosed garden. Our residents have spent time lovingly growing their own herbs and tomatoes and planting the raised flower beds, which are ideal for those in wheelchairs or with greater physical disabilities. We also have a fishpond, complete with koi carp.
The gardens are a real haven, with some bedrooms having direct access. They have wheelchair-friendly pathways and host many events, particularly garden parties and even a sponsored run to raise money for our local hospice in Hertfordshire.
A team of activity co-ordinators work across our care home. There are so many different group and individual activities, tailored to our residents and what they enjoy. Activities our residents enjoy range from manicures in the hairdressing salon to games or sports in our themed pub ‘The Comet’(a nod to Hatfield’s rich aviation history) - there’s so much to do.
There’s also a vintage-themed cinema room, where residents can relax with popcorn, or a bag of their ‘favourites’ from our retro sweet shop, complete with old-fashioned scales. There’s also music sessions and church services.
Our nursing home has a relaxing café area, which has been used as a dementia café and is the perfect spot to meet up with friends and family for tea and home-baked cakes.
We also have our own care home minibus, which is wheelchair accessible, so our residents can visit their favourite places around Hertfordshire, including garden centres, the cathedral in nearby St Albans and Hatfield House.
Each floor of the nursing home has a different theme, for example a forest theme with the sounds of birds and smell of lavender, an aquatic ‘under the sea’ theme and even an area with a vintage desk and typewriter. These areas are wonderful for reminiscence, especially for our residents living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia and memory loss.
For many of our residents, mealtimes are a real highlight of the day. Our head chef spends time in our dining rooms so residents can share their honest feedback, which helps to shape the menus.
All of our en-suite bedrooms are spacious, with walk in wet-room showers. Every room has Wi-Fi and an alarm call system in the bathroom and bedroom for that extra peace of mind. We also have a mobile shower table which we can use to help our residents with higher nursing needs. For example, they might be recovering from a stroke or having a period of convalescence.
We embrace technology and have replaced paper-based tailored care plans with Sanctuary Care’s bespoke electronic care planning app kradle, giving staff more time to spend with our residents. Another wonderful piece of technology we have is an electronic mobile sensory station, with lights, sounds and bubbles. For those with greater nursing care needs, on palliative or end of life care, this can be taken to their bedside.
We also have ‘Magic Tables’. This amazing technology is designed to support people living with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia, helping them to engage through interactive light games which encourage gentle movement.
From residential and dementia care, to nursing, palliative and end of life care, with a team of devoted care and nursing staff, Hatfield can be a home for life, where we can meet increasing needs if they evolve over time.
And if you’ve been exploring adult respite breaks at care homes in Hertfordshire, we’re here to help. Our planned respite breaks provide much-needed relief care for caregivers looking after an elderly relative at home. We can also offer emergency respite breaks for when something unexpected occurs.
It is usual for residents in care homes to contribute to the cost of their own care. Some people have the resources to pay for their care in full, whilst others make means-tested contributions. Our weekly fees are individual to each of our residents and are subject to a pre-admission assessment, which is required to truly understand the level of care and support needed.
Our 2022 weekly care fees for residential care start from £1,053 up to £1,408 and £1,366 for nursing care but may be in the region of 20% more*. This depends on your care needs and the type of bedroom that is right for you, from our standard rooms through to our premium bedroom options.
*If you require more specialist care such as 1-2-1 support, your weekly fee could be higher.
